Are You Inviting Me?
Painting by Ginger, Kyle's mom Am I remembering to invite Douglas daily into my life? This is something that I have mentioned before, yet it came up recently once again in one of my conversations with a bereaved momma. This assistance is always accessible and I sense it is not something perhaps that is naturally considered, yet now I cannot imagine navigating my days without having an open door policy. I’ve found that if I begin my day with gratitude, no matter how dismal I m

What I Am Noticing
Something I have noticed about loss that seems to be a central heart tether that binds us is to not have our loss to have been in vain. It matters as does our person and our love that we cannot move physically with and towards our person is needing to find an outlet, an expression, a way of BEing that feels life giving, healing and nurturing in some way. In my early walk with loss every step I took towards that pushed me back and reminded me that I was “not ready” yet. I was

Our Tenderness May BE Our Strength
Painting by Justine, Danielle's mom “I tell them that we can choose to be perfect and admired or to be real and loved. We must decide. If we choose to be perfect and admired, we must send our representatives out to live our lives. If we choose to be real and loved, we must send out our true, tender selves. Homecoming
To Come Home To Yourself May all that is unforgiven in you, Be released. May your fears yield Their deepest tranquilities. May all that is unlived in you, Blossom into a future, Graced with love. John O’Donohue , Irish poet and philosopher I ponder what does it mean when I hear, “Come home to yourself.” I sense this lands in a unique way for each of us. For me, I’m still learning how this feels to embody in its fullness. Places outside myself that feel safe, remind me of this

WAIT
A dear friend of mine asked me if I had heard of the acronym WAIT in Al-Anon? It stands for why am I talking? I was not familiar with it and it’s the absolute best way for me to keep myself in check. Something I was made acutely aware of is that nothing anyone said to me could truly make a difference when Douglas shed his earth suit. I understand others meant well and had good intentions, yet what generally came out were words that consoled the giver, because to say nothing

Every Morning
Every morning, I wake up. And then I just let go . I let go of the day before. Finally. It takes my slumber to do so. And I let go of tomorrow too. Preemptively. I look at what’s directly in front, that moment, those minutes. That (and only that) is what helps me out of bed. I let go of my quest for perfection ~ Love is not perfect, so I let it go. I vow to love as best I can. I let go of expectations—the ones I have for myself, and the ones I have for you. I let go of judgme
